Sycuan recognizes the future of Sycuan’s social and economic advancement depends on promoting education of Sycuan’s future leaders. Education is important for the revitalization, retention, and maintenance of traditional knowledge that was passed to Sycuan through ancestors. Sycuan recognizes the crucial role of Indigenous knowledge as an integral part of Nation building in the present and future education of its tribal members and the Kumeyaay Nation at large.
Infant, Toddler and Pre-School Program
The Infant, Toddler, Preschool and Pre-K Academy programs implement a whole child developmental approach to inspire and challenge young learners. Program curriculum is mindfully developed with consideration of each child’s individual learning needs and goals. Cultural values and Kumeyaay language are infused throughout the programs to offer students a balanced foundation in their learning.
Learning and Teen Centers
The Learning and Teen Center programs are dedicated to guiding the academic success of Sycuan’s young men and women during the challenging transitions from elementary through post-secondary education. We are inspiring cultural and character values with support from the staff, community, and schools to better prepare the youth to become Sycuan’s leaders of tomorrow.
To support the development of healthy spirits, minds, and bodies in the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, as well as other community members.
To ensure Sycuan’s sovereignty and survival for future generations of Kumeyaay, the Sycuan Education Department is dedicated to providing enrichment programs to address the individual needs of each learner, infant to elder, to build respectful, responsible citizens who retain their identity and culture.
