Gaming Commission

The Sycuan Gaming Commission is an independent gaming regulatory agency for the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. The Commission was established by Tribal Ordinance (law).

The Sycuan Gaming Commission consists of four (4) departments: Compliance, Backgrounds, Internal Audit and Surveillance. All of these departments are overseen by three Gaming Commissioners and an Executive Director. The Commission is funded by a license fee approved by the tribal government. The Commission has complete autonomy from the casino or its management and reports directly to the Tribal Government.

The Commission is responsible for enforcement of all tribal, federal and state compacting gaming laws. Other Gaming Commission responsibilities consist of conducting backgrounds and determining suitability of licensing for gaming activities and gaming devices, protecting tribal gaming assets and ensuring that patrons have been treated safe and fairly in any gaming activity.
